design resources

With the belief that communication is a dynamic process of drawing meaning (as against a linear, transmission approach),
we design and develop resources based on values of cooperation, critical thinking and collective action

Women’s Participation in Ecology

Women share a crucial bond and a relationship of interdependence with nature. It is important that women are engaged in decisions related to ecology and environment. All work related to "commons" cannot be holistic and comprehensive unless women participate actively.

The activity posters create a non-threatening and conducive environment in villages to initiate dialogue, share thoughts, think and reflect on the need for and importance of women's participation in village-level institutions that work on NRM.

Gender & Livestock Farming

Livestock farming is integral to rural farming economy. Farmers with large or small landholding do manage to have some kind of livestock. While women from the families do share a lot of responsibility related to farming and livestock caring, all major decision-making remain with the men in the family who stay connected to the market.

Even as Nani (maternal grandmother), the protagonist of the stories in the flip book, conjures up various situations related to livestock caring, income generation and financial literacy, she provokes the community women to question gender discrimination in all its myriad forms.

Life Skills for Empowerment

Life skills, we believe, cannot be taught. But surely can be learnt.

The set of activity posters is an opportunity for girls and women to reflect on their real life situations, understand gender and patriarchy, form a collective and build solidarity to assert their rights.

Board Games

Buniyaad

A majority of construction workers lead a life of "in between". They are neither fully part of urban economy nor do they have the option of continuing to belong to the rural economy.

BUNIYAAD is a board game designed specifically for construction workers, both on-site and off-site. It creates an opportunity for the workers to come together, play and have fun - even as it explores important aspects related to migration, unorganised sector, health and nutrition, entitlements of workers, gender and male participation.

SkillAbility

We still have a long way to become an inclusive society. In India, it is only recent that focus of work with persons with disabilities is witnessing a shift from philanthropic to rights-based approach.

With the belief that "PWDs can!", SkillAbility is a board game that challenges the players to negotiate various spaces - self, family, community, workplace - and prepare themselves for self-advocacy.

Adolescent girls face a lot of challenges... at the individual, family and community level.

Apart from dissemination of information, there is a need for a process with adolescent girls' groups that is dialogical. The Kishori Shakti communication resource includes a set of:
  • Pratyek Kishorila Mahit Aahe (Every Adolescent Girl Knows) – an infolet for wide distribution among adolescent girls
  • Aamhi Badal Ghadvu Shakto (Together, We Can Be The Change) – a large format activity book for adolescent girls' groups
  • Vichar Karu, Charcha Karu (Lets Think, Lets Discuss) – a set of posters to be used by the adolescent girls' groups at the community level
