Welcoming to Belonging!
Engendering DEI through Participatory Practices

June 2024, Goa

“come with curiosity, come with questions and be ready to be gently unsettled in the best way”

It was indeed a privilege to be a part of the "Welcoming to Belonging" workshop.

The experience has stayed with me—not just for the ideas it introduced, but for the space it created to feel, reflect and reimagine how inclusion and equity show up in our daily lives and work.

What made this workshop stand out was the way you held space for deep listening and learning through practices and experiences. The participatory tools and methods created a truly engaging environment where everyone felt seen and heard.

For anyone considering this workshop, I would say "come with curiosity, come with questions and be ready to be gently unsettled in the best way". This workshop offers meaningful entry points and reflections to carry forward in your own context.

And wishing you the very best as you take this important work ahead.

That five-day workshop in Goa wasn’t just about learning DEI concepts; it became a powerful mirror, reflecting myself back at me. You both gently facilitated a space where, amidst shared laughter during icebreakers that uncovered unexpected connections, I confronted my own ingrained biases—assumptions I hadn’t even recognized.

Grappling with complex ideas like equity and historical injustice wasn’t just an intellectual exercise; it was a collision of personal stories and beliefs, creating profound understanding. Moments of shared vulnerability and collective frustrations—mirroring systemic barriers—stripped away professional facades, revealing our shared human desire for belonging and respect.

It wasn’t solely about grasping DEI intellectually, but about peeling back layers to understand myself better within this diverse world—illuminating tangible, everyday actions I can now consciously integrate into my professional life, right here in Mumbai and beyond, making meaningful contributions one deliberate step at a time.

Ultimately, it was a powerful reminder that beyond organizational titles and missions, there’s a fundamental human yearning to be truly seen, heard, and valued for who we are.
