We still have a long way to become an inclusive society. In India, it is only recent that focus of work with persons with disabilities is witnessing a shift from philanthropic to rights-based approach.
With the belief that "PWDs can!", SkillAbility, a board game for life skills initiative, aims at creating an enabling environment and preparing PWDs for self advocacy.
The game introduces challenges faced by PWDs in various spaces - self, family, community, workplace - through various situation cards that become an opportunity to articulate and dialogue among fellow players. The game is an experience for the players to be able to identify challenges and explore possible options for change.
In its present form, persons with locomotor and hearing disability, individuals and organisations working on the issue of PWDs can play the SkillAbility board game.
A majority of construction workers lead a life of "in between". They are neither fully part of urban economy nor have they the option of continuing to belong to the rural economy.
BUNIYAAD, a board game, reaches out to construction workers both on-site and off-site. It creates an opportunity for the workers to come together, play and have fun - even as it explores various important aspects related to migration, construction sector, health and nutrition, entitlements of workers, gender and male participation.
The effort is to create a space, a platform for the construction workers to discuss, share and dialogue thereby creating camaraderie as also strengthen skills that enable better understanding of self, realise the need for and importance of being part of collective, acknowledge the importance of correct information and appreciate rights and entitlements as non-negotiables.
